Sri K Vasudeva Ganakan was born on 18th May, 1914 at Kunnumkal House, Chingoli Village, Karthikappally Taluk, Alappuzha district of Kerala State. His father, Kochupilla, was a Sanskrit Pandit, a well known Astrologer and an efficient Ayurveda Physician. His mother was Kochu, a member of a renowned traditional Vaidya family.

The young Vasudevan had his primary education in the Sansrit School at Mannarasala. He took his BA degree in Sanskrit from the Sanskrit College at Thiruvananthapuram.

For a long time Sri Ganakan worked as a Malayalam Pandit at St. Thomas High School at Ranni, Pathanamthitta district.

This edudite scholar has been teaching Sanskrit to many students.

On 2nd January 2012, he passed away due to old age.
